Warsaw, Krakow, Budapest, Vienna & Prague

Day 1

Thursday. Depart USA to Poland. Your flight includes meals, drinks, and in-flight entertainment for the journey

Day 2

Friday. Arrive into Warsaw and transfer to your hotel. Subject upon early afternoon arrival, attend Shabbat services followed by a welcome dinner and orientation at your hotel (D): WARSAW

Day 3

Saturday. Today, enjoy a morning tour of Warsaw that includes both banks of the Vistula River. Visit Lazienki Park to view the neoclassical "Palace on the Water" and Chopin's Monument. Travel along the Royal Route with its historic monuments and residences toward the Warsaw Ghetto and the Jewish Cemetery. Visit the Warsaw Ghetto Memorial, Mila 18, headquarters of the Warsaw Ghetto uprising, and the Umschlagplatz, site of the deportation of the Warsaw Jewish community to Treblinka. Walk through the cobbled streets to the Baroque Market Square. View the Cathedral of St. John and the Royal Castle. Balance the day at leisure. This evening, enjoy an optional Chopin concert with champagne (includes transportation) ($45) (B): WARSAW

Day 4

Sunday. Today, travel south to Czestochowa to visit the Paulite Monastery at Jasna Gora, guided by a resident monk. View the "Black Madonna," the portrait of Our Lady which is said to have miraculous powers. Continue to the site of the infamous Auschwitz and Birkenau concentration and death camp for a guided visit and memorial service, with time for personal reflection. Drive to Krakow, former residence of the Polish kings (B, D): KRAKOW

Day 5

Monday. This morning, enjoy a tour of medieval Krakow which includes a visit to the 16th century Wawel Royal Castle. Visit the Kazimierz Jewish Quarter and view the Altshul, Rema Synagogue and Rema cemetery. Visit Oskar Schindler's factory. Continue to the Old Town, Market Square, St. Mary's Church and Renaissance Cloth Hall. This afternoon, visit the museum at the 700-year-old Wieliczka Salt Mine located in the original underground excavations (B): KRAKOW

Day 6

Tuesday. This morning, view Sister Faustine Convent then continue to travel through the scenic Tatra Mountains and the wooded countryside of Slovakia before reaching the Danube Valley and the twin cities of Buda and Pest (B, D): BUDAPEST

Day 7

Wednesday. Your morning tour begins in Pest and views the Parliament, Royal Palace, Heroes' Square and Market Hall. Cross the Danube over the Elizabeth Bridge to the Buda Hills. Visit the Citadel on Mount Gellert, then continue to the 13th century Matthias Coronation Church on Castle Hill. From Fisherman's Bastion, enjoy a magnificent panoramic view of the city. Enjoy an afternoon at leisure or choose an optional excursion along the scenic Danube Bend. A short distance from Budapest, visit the 14th century artists' colony of Szentendre ($39). This evening, enjoy an optional Csarda dinner including traditional Hungarian music and entertainment (includes transportation) ($44) (B): BUDAPEST

Day 8

Thursday. This morning, visit the Jewish sites in Buda including the Small Synagogue, Fake Cemetery and Raoul Wallenberg Memorial. Continue for a guided walk through the Pest Jewish area, including the Dohaney Synagogue, the Jewish Museum on the site of Theodore Herzl's birth, the Holocaust Memorial and the new Holocaust Museum. This afternoon, select an optional visit to the Parliament followed by a cruise on the scenic Danube River ($39) (B): BUDAPEST

Day 9

Friday. Depart Hungary and travel through the Austrian countryside to Vienna, former center of the Hapsburg Empire. Upon arrival, enjoy a short walking tour including Judenplatz and a visit to the Jewish Museum. Continue to St. Stephen's Cathedral. Balance of the day at leisure. This evening, attend Shabbat services (B): VIENNA

Day 10

Saturday. This morning, a sightseeing tour begins with a stop at Belvedere Palace and its gardens. Continue with a drive along the famous Ring Strasse viewing Empress Maria Theresia Monument, Votive Church, City Hall, Parliament and Prater amusement park along with other landmarks of the city's imperial history. Conclude with a walk through the Hofburg Courtyards to the State Opera House. Balance the day at leisure or choose an optional tour to visit Schonbrunn Palace and Gardens, the former summer residence of the Hapsburg family ($44). This evening, if you wish, attend an optional Mozart and Strauss concert (includes transportation) ($49) (B): VIENNA

Day 11

Sunday. This morning, depart for the Czech Republic. Travel into Southern Bohemia to the charming 14th century town of Telc. Enjoy a panoramic tour which includes the Renaissance Town Square, the medieval city gates and hilltop Telc Castle. Continue to Prague, "city of a hundred spires." Balance the day at leisure (B): PRAGUE

Day 12

Monday. A morning sightseeing tour of Prague includes a visit to the Royal Castle at Hradcany, former residence of the Bohemian kings. Enjoy magnificent views of the city and Charles Bridge below. Visit St. Vitus Cathedral and view St. George's Basilica and the Golden Lane. Continue to the Jewish Ghetto and the Old Town Square to view the famous Astronomical Clock. This afternoon,an in depth tour of Jewish Prague includes the Jewish Museum, Altneu Shul, the Synagogues - Pinchus, Klausen, Maisel and Spanish - and the Old Cemetery. This evening, enjoy a dinner at a typical local restaurant (B, D): PRAGUE

Day 13

Tuesday. Today, enjoy a full day at leisure to explore Prague or choose an optional morning excursion to the Bohemian Castle of Karlstejn. The castle was built 650 years ago by Charles IV as a depository for the Roman Empire coronation jewels and state documents ($44) (B): PRAGUE

Day 14

Wednesday. Transfer to airport for your departure flight (B).
