Drive through exciting city of Tel Aviv, known as the "City That Never Sleeps." Check in to Tel Aviv hotel. Welcome in Shabbat at Beit Daniel or the Jaffa Center. Festive Shabbat dinner at the hotel. Saturday. Breakfast at the hotel. Morning options: Services at Beit Daniel. Visit to the Tel Aviv Museum of Art. Walk along the Tel Aviv Promenade Lunch on your own. Visit the Ayalon Institute, near Rehovot, site of a clandestine munitions factory during the British Mandate. Late afternoon walk in the newly gentrified neighborhood of Neve Zedek with it’s many galleries and coffee shops. Free time and dinner on your own. (B): TEL AVIV
Sunday. Breakfast at the hotel. Visit to Independence Hall where the Declaration of Independence of the State of Israel was signed in 1948. Participate in a Social Welfare project with the Israel Religious Action Center. Drive along the Trans-Israel Highway for a close up view of the ‘Security Fence’ along the separation zone between Israel and the Palestinian Territories. Tour Caesarea, one of the Land of Israel's most important cities during the Roman Empire; visit the Herodian theater and new excavations along the Mediterranean shore concluding with the the new interactive audio/visual program ‘The Stars of Caesarea,’ located in the 900-year-old crusader city built on the same site. Lunch on your own. Guided visit through the town of Peki'in in the Upper Galille, today home to Muslims, Christians, Druze and Jews, once the site of the Cave of Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai, author of the mystical book the Zohar, with Druze home hospitality. Drive to the Upper Galilee. Check in to Kibbutz guesthouse. Dinner at the guesthouse. (B, D): GALILEE
Monday. Breakfast at the hotel. Walk through the Tel Dan Nature Reserve located on the largest tributary of the Jordan River and near the Biblical settlement of Dan. Jeep tour climbing to the Golan Heights in the footsteps of IDF soldiers and their battles in the Six Day War, to enjoy the beautiful natural scenery and gain an insight into the strategic complexity of the Golan. Explore Israel's security situation on the Golan Heights while overlooking the Hula Valley from former Syrian fortifications. Cross the Golan Plateau bordering with Syria and observe the abandoned Syrian city of Kuneitra and the United Nations outpost located nearby. Security seminar along the Lebanese border for a glimpse at Israel’s strategic reality since it’s withdrawal from Lebanon in 2000. Visit Safed, a center of Jewish mysticism for hundreds of years, and a contemporary artists’ colony; visit the many unique synagogues, stroll through the quaint art galleries and shop in the artists’ colony. Dinner at the hotel. ‘Kibbutz Ideology and Israeli Reality in the 21st Century’, meet with second generation kibbutz member for a glimpse at some of the challenges facing Kibbutzim in the 21st century. Tuesday. Breakfast at the hotel. Visit the Hula Valley Nature Reserve for an insight into the unique story of the draining and re-flooding of the Hula Lake, with an audio visual program. Visit the Kinneret Cemetery and hear about the dreams of the early Zionist pioneers. Visit the archaeological excavations at Beit Shean, one of the largest Roman-Byzantine cities uncovered in Israel. Drive through the Jordan Valley to Jerusalem. Stop at Mount Scopus to say the traditional “shehechiyanu” blessing, recited upon entering Jerusalem. Check in to Jerusalem hotel. Free time and dinner on your own. (B): JERUSALEM
Wednesday. Breakfast at the hotel. Introduction to Jerusalem at the Herzl Interactive Center at Mount Herzl. Guided visit through the Jewish Quarter of Jerusalem, including the Cardo, the Hurva Square and the Herodian Mansions. Guided visit to the Davidson Archaeological Park with a special visit to the Davidson Center, to view the new three-dimensional computer generated presentation of Life During the Time of the Temple, followed by a guided visit to the Southern Wall Excavations. Guided visit through the Western Wall Tunnel. Free time and dinner on your own. (B): JERUSALEM
Thursday. Breakfast at the hotel. My Memory for Your Future, dialogue with a Holocaust survivor. Guided visit through the newly renovated Yad Vashem complex, the Jewish National Memorial to the six million Jews who perished in the Holocaust, including: the new Historical Museum, and the Children's Memorial, with a memorial service. Lunch on your own at the vibrant Machane Yehudah market, followed by a family exploration program in the ethnically rich Nachlaot neighborhood. The World of Progressive Judaism in Israel, special program with the Israel Movement for Progressive Judaism. ‘Political Jerusalem’—Travel through the city of Jerusalem exploring some of the political and diplomatic complexities of recent years, including Har Homa, Gilo and the new ‘Security Fence’ in the Jerusalem area with an in-depth study seminar on the ramifications of current developments. Dinner on your own. Cultural event in Jerusalem. (B): JERUSALEM
Friday. Breakfast at the hotel. Take part in an active dig at the Beit Guvrin caves and prepare to get your hands dirty as you uncover pottery from the Hellenistic period, 2,300 years ago, followed by a crawl through the Maresha Cave Labyrinth . Return to Jerusalem. Lunch on your own on Emek Refaim St. in the German Colony. Free time to wander around Jerusalem and residents prepare for Shabbat. Kabbalat Shabbat services at one of the Reform synagogues in the Jerusalem area. Festive Shabbat dinner at the hotel. (B, D): JERUSALEM
Saturday. Breakfast at the hotel. Optional services. Guided visit to the Museum of the History of Jerusalem at David's Citadel, for a walk through the history of Jerusalem from the time of Abraham 4,000 years ago to the end of the British Mandate over Palestine.
