Eilat

Relax and have fun in Eilat while on your Israel tour. Israel's most popular resort, Eilat is full of fun things to do for visitors of all ages and interests. See unusual marine life, take a desert trail and experience the desolate beauty of the area, go on a camel ride and visit a Bedouin village and acquaint yourself with their unique history, cuisine and life.

Marine Life

Visit the Coral Beach Nature Reserve at the southern end of Eilat's Coral Beach - an aquarium of local marine life, with a unique underwater observatory. Get a close up view of the beautiful flora and fauna, sharks, sea turtles and many breeds of fish. Take a swim with the dolphins at the nearby Dolphin Reef. Rent scuba diving equipment at one of the diving clubs or beaches along the shore and swim out to see the wonderful coral and marine wildlife that’s fairly close to the shore.

Bedouin Hospitality

In recent years, the Bedouin community in Israel’s southern region has begun to open their homes to visitors, sharing their unique lifestyle and tradition of hosting visitors. When visiting the Bedouin, you will be asked to leave your shoes at the entrance to their tent, then invited in to sit on beautifully decorated cushions. You’ll be served a fragrant tea and an assortment of pastries. If you decide to stay for a meal with the Bedouin, you are in for a real culinary treat as traditional foods will be cooked right before you and served as is customary in Bedouin culture.

Camel riding is another popular activity worth trying when visiting a Bedouin village. You will be helped onto a well-padded camel's back and walked through the desert sands.

Desert Wildlife

Gain an animal education at the Yotvata Wildlife Reserve, a special zoo with an emphasis on the preservation of biblical animals. Meet the Asian elephant, the wild ass, the Syrian horse and other animals in danger of extinction.

Desert Glory

The mysteries of the desert, with its silent beauty and ever-changing scenery have been the subject of stories for centuries. Timna National Park, located at the northern entrance to Eilat, is a natural reserve dedicated to the preservation of desert life. View unusually shaped rocks such as The Mushroom and Solomon's Pillars, and many-hued sands, ranging in colors from pink to red to yellow and black, the result of their natural composition of minerals.
